    The Final Countdown...

    April 18, 2008

    Count Downs:

-Days of classes left until Exam Review: 26

-Days left until I can get my license: 86

-Inter-Ac games left in the Softball season: 9

-Time left in Dave Matthew’s Stay that is playing on my iPod: 6 minutes 48 seconds

-Time left in this study hall: 20 minutes

-School days left with the seniors: 8

I’ve never been too found of endings. Beginnings, now there’s something to cherish. But, I’ve found the two often go hand in hand. That realization has yet to help me handle life any better. Softball season has barely begun, but I am ready for us to be Inter-Ac champions already, a Springside first. But that means that the season has to come to an end and I have to say ‘good bye’ to our two seniors, something I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to do. In this way I don’t think I want to ever play our final game.

The seniors leave for senior projects in only 8 days and already I can feel the emptiness. Juniors, anxious for power, count down with excitement. Seniors, ready to have some freedom, count down with excitement. I don’t know how I feel. I won’t be an underclassman, +1. I won’t have the seniors to put a smile on my face as I walk down the hall, -2. The juniors will be the ‘acting seniors’, +1, -1! They will be back for sports and players and such, +1. That evens out to a big fat 0 for those who might struggle with math J. I guess I’m just a little scared of change. Finally everything has settled and then ‘woooosh’ we’re off on another adventure where we have to find our footing again. I’ve never been that coordinated. If not for my friends to help me balance, I’m certain I’d have fallen long ago.

And then again, sometimes balance is just a little too mundane. Things have to be shaken up every now and then.
